Joe Hernandez is a trial lawyer focused on white-collar/criminal defense and complex commercial litigation in state and federal courts. His varied career experience permits him to represent individuals and companies across a range of industries including the healthcare and life sciences, financial services, construction, and products liability space. In his career, he has served as lead or second-chair trial counsel several times and successfully resolved numerous other cases through pleas and mediation. Prior to joining the firm in 2025, Joe worked at a boutique firm focused on white-collar/criminal defense and civil litigation where he honed his skills and knowledge of the government enforcement space.
Joe started his career initially in the Maryland Public Defender’s Office in Prince George’s County before transitioning to a boutique litigation firm in Virginia concentrating in construction, commercial litigation, toxic torts, products liability, and criminal defense. In his time as a Virginia attorney, Joe got the opportunity to visit many corners of the state, including several notable experiences in the Eastern District of Virginia’s famous “Rocket Docket” where he once served as co-lead local counsel for a matter that secured class certification in a matter in under a year. Before law school, he was a member of the investigation team at the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill & Offshore Drilling that published the definitive report on the root causes of the Macondo blowout and 2011 Gulf oil spill.
Outside of the office, Joe can be found chasing after his two young boys and coaching his son’s little league team. An avid golfer, Joe competed as a four-year member of Yale’s varsity golf team and earned First-Team All-Ivy League his senior year. While his golf game is not as sharp as it used to be, Joe annually enters qualifiers for state or national tournaments, including successfully competing in the 2024 Massachusetts Open against some of the top professional and amateur golfers across the Northeast. An interesting fact about Joe, he lived the first five years of his life between Indonesia, Singapore, and Switzerland before spending the prime years of youth between Medfield, MA and Wilmington, DE.
