Christopher K. Sweeney

Chris is a partner and co-chair of the Firm’s Construction Practice Group. He represents engineers, architects, owners, general contractors, and subcontractors in construction defect, delay, contract, and job-site injury cases. Chris also advises owners, developers, and property managers in commercial real estate disputes and defends professionals accused of malpractice.

While his first instinct is to fight hard for the client, Chris understands the value of a dollar and seeks opportunities to resolve matters quickly and efficiently. His comprehensive approach and strategic thinking make him a formidable advocate for his clients, ensuring that their interests are effectively advanced in both litigation and alternative dispute resolution.

Chris has been named a “Go-To Lawyer” for construction by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, a “Top Lawyer” in construction by Boston Magazine, and a Super Lawyers Rising Star, a designation awarded based on peer recognition and professional achievement. He is on the steering committee for the Defense Research Institute’s (DRI) Construction Law Committee and serves on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Defense Lawyers Association (MDLA).

A veteran litigator, Chris regularly appears in trial courts across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire and has significant experience practicing before the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the Supreme Judicial Court, and the First Circuit Court of Appeals. 

Chris graduated summa cum laude from Suffolk University Law School, where he served as an editor of the Suffolk University Law Review and was the winner of the Tom C. Clark Appellate Advocacy Competition.

Chris lives in Westford with his wife, two daughters, and golden retriever, George. He is a Boston sports enthusiast and enjoys staying active running, biking, and working around the house and yard, and coaching his daughters’ athletic teams.
